Equity-Minded Student-Focused Evidence-Driven Advancing policies and practices to dismantle the racial and economic barriers embedded in California’s education system. Equity-Minded Student-Focused Evidence-Driven Advancing policies and practices to dismantle the racial and economic barriers embedded in California’s education system. Our mission The Education Trust–West (EdTrust-West) is committed to dismantling the racial and economic barriers embedded in the California education system. Through our research and advocacy, EdTrust-West engages diverse communities dedicated to education equity and justice and increases political and public will to build an education system where students of color and multilingual learners, especially those experiencing poverty, will thrive. our Impact For over twenty years, EdTrust-West has served as a leading voice in advocating for educational equity in the state. Through our research, policy solutions, and community engagement, we provide a powerful voice that pushes our state’s institutions to make the changes necessary to best serve students of color. Explore our Achievements Learn more Explore our Achievements our Impact For over twenty years, Ed Trust—West has served as a leading voice in advocating for educational equity in the state. Through our research, policy solutions, and community engagement, we provide a powerful voice that pushes our state’s institutions to make the changes necessary to best serve our students. Research has shown that students from low-income communities can arrive at elementary school as many as 24 months behind their peers from more adequately resourced communities. We’re actively engaged in executing multi-faceted advocacy strategies — from helping families and communities reach out to their elected officials to working in concert with state-level education leaders on developing community-informed policies that have the greatest impact on expanding educational equity and opportunities. ETW’s tools and services help schools and districts transform their policies, practices, and systems to create equitable access to rigorous and relevant coursework while providing the learning environment and supports students need to thrive. We envision a California where education equity is baked into every policy decision, every student is set up for academic success, and an opportunity gap no longer exists for students of color, English learners, and students from low-income communities. What We do We champion the closure of achievement and opportunity gaps in TK-12 schools and higher education through legislative advocacy, partnering with educators, and conducting policy analyses. Our focus is on promoting equity in schools, colleges, and universities. By collaborating, developing capacity-building programs, and forming coalitions with education equity leaders and communities, we offer insights and evidence-based solutions for systemic change in education policies and initiatives.
